PRECONDITIONS OF THE PROJECT OCCURENCE

The problem of safe waste management in our country has lots of aspects:

  • every day a person creates about 1,0-1,5kg of household waste, nationwide this is around 42500 ÷ 63750 tons per day and  ≈ 15mln.tons ÷ 24mln.tons per year. Moreover, every year these figures increase by 20%
  • at present, waste landfills occupy 7% of Ukrainian territory, which corresponds to the territory of Denmark (without Greenland)
  • the amount of illegal landfills in Ukraine is 5 times bigger than the number of legal ones (6:30 thousands)
  • until today, the existing solutions were not able to solve the problem as a whole 
  • MSW landfills filtrate contaminates soils and ground waters
  • the majority of MSW landfills (from 80 to 90%) work in the overload mode
  • methane (СН4), which is 21 times more hazardous than carbon dioxide (СO2), is released into the atmosphere
  • the market of waste sorting and complex waste recycling is basically absent in Ukraine  

Accordingly, such a multifunctional task requires an integrated approach to be applied, which is actually the Waste management complex of complete MSW utilization. 

 

Implementation of such a technological approach allows to process up to 96% of MSW and receive additional sources of profit from secondary raw materials marketing and thermal and electrical energy generation from alternative fuels.

The methodology of full MSW landfills utilization

 

PURPOSE OF THE MSW UTILIZATION COMPLEX

  • Reception, sorting, recycling, and utilization of MSW (public catering and industrial organizations waste);
  • Production of alternative fuels out of MSW, public catering and industrial organizations waste or use of these waste as an alternative fuel;
  • Thermal(20 МW) energy and electrical (7 МВт) energy production to satisfy  the needs of the city;
  • Secondary raw materials separation

The technology of the MSW utilization complex allows to locate it (all the facilities provided by the FS) at the territory of 2 Ha.

TOV “NBTR” won the procurement procedure for engineering and construction works performance in the frame of Dolyna MSW landfill reconstruction project, which is located 10 km to the North from Dolyna town at the territory of Rakhynskyi forestry.

The scope of works includes (to name but a few):

  • general construction works
  • technological equipment installation works
  • purchase of technological equipment
  • transportation and communication facilities
  • water reservoir 50 м3 (2 шт)
  • external sewerage networks
  • landscaping
